The INTERNET can be a dangerous place for your kids, if you don't know the risks that can occur while being online. It is our jobs as parents, to know what our kids are doing when they are online. It is up to us to keep them safe in everything that they do.
Nothing beats the joy of your first sale. You can plot, plan, market and dream all you want, but until you get that first sale, you're not sure that you have a real business. It's 25 years since I sold my first book to an international publisher. I walked on air for days. To my mind, because real writers wrote books, I was real writer at last.
If you're a writer, you know there are rules. Lots of rules. The rules are rehashed in almost every writing "how to" book.
They include: no simultaneous submissions; always include a SAE
(Stamped Addressed Envelope); limit query length to one page; there's a "standard" contract; editors are busy, so don't phone; and many, many more.
