Reaching For The Brass Ring

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

So, you’ve decided to go into business for yourself to capture your part of the “American Dream”. Now that that’s all settled where the heck do we go from here?

Many people wake up each day because an alarm clock is beckoning them to their same old day in day out J-O-B (Just over Broke). They work the same hours, are in debt past their eyeballs, and all appear to have that “deer in headlights” look.

The real tragedy is that these average people, you, and me, your neighbor, can have so much more but settle for so much less. Somewhere along the line, we lost our vision; we lost our hope and settled for the cards life was dealing us. Wait a minute! Who says so?

The only thing that stands in the away of your achieving the American Dream is YOU!
Think about that for a minute because it’s a powerful statement. Who is harder on you than you? When you stumble and fall, who will be there to pick you up? It had better be you because if you can’t depend upon yourself, you’re in BIG trouble.

Many people I’ve known have worked the same jobs for 40 years, retired and then died within the first 5 years of retirement. Pretty bleak future isn’t it? There’s got be more than this in life so don’t let opportunities pass you buy. As children, we all had fantasies, we had ideas, and we had VISION! What chased them out of you?

I ask you, why work for someone else, making them rich, or have a boss who’s literally making you ill because he’s a manager wanna be that doesn’t realize being a dictator is no longer acceptable, or have someone else take credit for your ideas because they lack the vision to have their own – why do it?

It has never been easier than right now to start your own business but like anything else you need to think it through. What kind of business do you want? Where are your customers going to come from, how about customer service issues – are you ready to deal with people as the owner of a company? Don’t fall into the old trap of saying “I’m not going to be anything like my boss or the company I work for” This is like saying you’re not going to be anything like your parents and then one day you realize that silently you did!

Define your vision. Let me say that again – DEFINE your VISION. Everyone’s got a dream, what’s yours? You are now asking yourself the prime number one question in life – What do you want to be when you grow up? Personally, I don’t like Oysters but, why not make the world yours? You will only be limited by your imagination.

Let’s get serious for a moment. Now that you’ve defined your vision, write it down and expand upon it by considering the following;

• Why do you want to go into business for yourself?

• Do you have or can you get a sustainable customer base?

• What are your start up costs going to be? *While relatively cheap to start up, all costs need to be considered.

• Mentally, how we doing? Owning your own Company versus working for someone else is the difference between night and day and so are some of the people you will be dealing with. We will touch on this further.

• Have you listed what you see your strong points as being? Your weak points?

• Are you prepared to step out of your “comfort” zone to make this work?

My friends, the list is endless but you get the idea. Earlier, I alluded to how you’re doing mentally and now I would like to amplify that statement. Regardless of how well you’re equipped, no one can do it all. There are literally thousands of books to help you understand ecommerce, owning your own business, self help and improvement and the list goes on and on.

Essentially what I’m asking is for you to think about what you intend to do for you. The very thought of that sends some people into a panic because they’ve never given it much thought before. If you don’t find a diversion outside of your office environment you’ll grow stiff and those creative juices we’re trying to supercharge will just fizzle and your business along with it.

What do you like to do for fun? Take a walk, ride a bike, see friends – DO NOT cut yourself off from the world! For me, I perform Tai Chi and believe you me, it helps!
Afterwards, I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to take on the world once again but more importantly it preserves my VISION!

The worst thing you can do is to loose your identity in your business. Keep it you but keep it separate. Remember, we’re looking to fulfill a dream and create a lifestyle for ourselves free of the burdens we’re so desperately moving away from.

Adding Word Rich Content to your Website. Duplication vs. Individualism

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

How can we add Word Rich Content to our Websites without overtly duplicating others website content, and as an end product maintain our own Individualism?

In theory Article Libraries are the answer to the above question. But, is it true that if you continually add like information to your site, you no longer maintain an individual posture?

Not every article that is submitted to your site will fit the needs of your particular agenda. Your site contains individual keywords that are meant to enhance the theme of your pages. Although it is true that many persons who submit articles to you may also have a similar website theme, it is important to examine the content of each article.

Ask yourself:

Do I agree with the message this article is conveying.
Why is the information relative to my website?
Does this article contain information that enhances my visitor’s experience?
Does the article provide correct information?

Providing article and content that is intended for the soul purpose of gaining Page Rank will in the end take away the individualism of your website.

Remember the average visitor will stay at your site between two minutes or less. As they scan your pages, it will not take long for them to realize they have seen the same information over and over.

The same rings true of the Robots and Spiders that eat your pages everyday!!!

The “Value” placed on your site by your visitors will be recognized by the “Value” you place there.

There is no reason why we cannot use “others” materials in our journey for original material, but how we “choose” that material will in the end reflect our destiny.

“Duplication does not necessarily mean the loss of individualism, nor is individualism lost through Duplication.”

Cultivating Inbound Links to your Website

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

As a webmaster, you are likely searching for ways to make more
money from your website. The truth is that if you have been
online for any amount of time, you have learned that you always
need to be on the prowl for new information to help you to be
more successful, and you always need to keep one eye open
looking for new ways to add more dollars to your bottom line.
That is likely why you are reading this article today. You are
hoping that I might be able to share some small tidbit or jewel
of information that might help take you and your business to the
next level. I hope that I will be able to meet your expectations.

Many webmasters have found that there are a few key programs
they can offer on their sites for which they can honestly expect
to make a few extra dollars, a few hundred extra dollars, and in
some cases, a few thousand extra dollars every month.

The trick to making additional income from third-party programs
is to carefully select programs that are relevant to your site
visitors, while insuring that the program you promote does not
directly compete with your own offerings.

DELIVER ADDED VALUE

If you are giving something to your visitors that they will
find useful, above and beyond your normal offerings — that
is considered an *added value* item. Not only will it give your
customers something they appreciate, it will help them grow
closer to you as a business owner. This is helpful in
accelerating the trust level that your customers have with you
and your business — which can only serve you well over the
long term. By building this foundation of trust, your visitors
will come back to your site and buy from you again — because
they know that they can trust you to treat them well.

On the web, more so than in brick-and-mortar, the trust factor
is the most important hurdle that the small business owner must
overcome with his potential customers. There are so many scams
and rip-offs on the web, that an honest soul is especially
appreciated.

TARGET YOUR OFFERINGS

As I had mentioned before, it is important to select your
*added value* offerings based on the interests of your web site
visitors. The closer your offerings are to the needs of your
target market, the more successful you will become selling your
added value products and services.

Here are a couple examples of Added Value offers to consider:

WORLD WIDE BRANDS
http://thePhantomWriters.com/wwb-dsd.html
If you run a website that caters to online business people or
those who wish to start their own online business, a good
program to offer is the one from World Wide Brands. Their
primary product is the Drop-Ship Source Directory. This is a
member-only site that keeps the most complete and up-to-date
resource for finding wholesale companies that offer
drop-shipping of the products they sell. This program is
actually ideal for anyone who has an interest in operating
an Ebay business.

For those who are unaware, a drop-shipper is a wholesale company
who offers products to retailers. The neat thing is that you
can call them on the phone and place an order for a product by
credit card, and if the drop-shipper has your information on
hand, the drop-shipper will put the reseller’s (your) company
name and address on the return label for the product delivery.

By using a drop-shipper, the small business does not have to be
concerned with carrying an inventory. Instead, they only have
to be concerned with product fulfillment.

World Wide Brands actually offers three programs: Drop Ship
Source Directory, Light Bulk Wholesale Directory, and Market
Research Wizard. All three programs offer a commission equal
to 25% of the purchase price for personal sales and a
commission of 10% for all sales generated by affiliates
who sign up under you.

SOULMATE INFOSERVE
http://www.soulmateinfoserve.com
If your website is concerned with self-improvement, self-esteem,
dating, relationships, love or marriage, then you could do very
well for yourself promoting the e-book, *How To Identify Your
Soulmate.*

Ernest Quansah, a Relationship Advisor and the founder of
*Soulmate Infoserve,* wrote *How To Identify Your Soulmate.*
He recently revised the text to include additional advice and
several worksheets. Now, each chapter has a questionnaire at
the end of it to help people personalize and internalize the
knowledge and advice shared in the book. This e-book is of such
high quality that it is now being prepared for print publication
as a hard cover book.

When asked about his the purpose of his e-book, this is what
Ernest had to say, *Love relationships are failing in an
alarming rate. In order to help as many people find happiness,
I have invested years researching love relationships. I wanted
to know why some relationships fail and others succeed.*

Ernest went on to say, *I have always desired to make a
difference in the lives of men and women out there in the
world, so that they can also find happiness in their love
relationships.*

No matter the specifics of the situation the reader may be in,
*How To Identify Your Soulmate* can assist people in their
quest to achieve success in their love relationships.

In conclusion, Ernest said, *I have compiled my finding into
an e-book that can be downloaded electronically. I would like
to extend an invitation to you to help me carry the message
contained in my book to the world.*

Ernest has provided two payment options for his e-book. One can
actually purchase *How To Identify Your Soulmate* using either
Clickbank or Clixgalore.

Webmasters who sign up for the Soulmate Infoserve Affiliate
Program will also earn a full 25% commission on all referred
sales of the e-book, *How To Identify Your Soulmate.*

http://www.soulmateinfoserve.com

IN CONCLUSION…

Products and services, which are relevant to the people who
already visit your website and do not conflict or compete with
your current offerings, are ideally suited to allow you to
deliver ADDED VALUE offerings to your visitors.

Added Value offerings help you to build the trust level that
your visitors have with you, and they also help you add new
layers of profitability to your website.

In the end, you should always strive to prepare your ezine or
website to deliver more dollars from the same real estate. Added
Value, third-party affiliate programs are the perfect vehicles
to take you where you want to go. You can use the ones we have
mentioned above, or you can select from any of hundreds of other
affiliate programs.

Whatever affiliate programs you might select, make sure that
they meet the main criteria for selecting programs of this type.
Make sure they are relevant to the needs of your visitors, and
make sure they do not directly compete with your current
offerings.

Change Envisioned Versus Change Enacted

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

Our imaginations can take us to the most far-flung places that our own minds can conjure up in terms of our desires. Returning home exhausted from the graveyard shift at the factory on a snowy morning, one very nearly collapses onto the sofa, heaves a sigh, closes ones eyes, and for a moment one has transported oneself to another reality altogether.

There are no more factories. It is warm and sunny. One is no longer in their under-employed mill town but rather on the sunny Mediterranean. Our sparsely furnished apartment has been transformed into a sleek yacht gently rocking as we happily survey our opulent domain.

Yet, moments later, something startles us back to reality and when we open our eyes we are right back where we were. Tired, concerned about our day to day existence and simply restless in general.

The above example is what is termed a “flight of fancy” and it does serve a purpose. It is a method of temporarily changing/altering a reality that is hard to cope with. It helps and soothes but it is fleeting and in a moment’s time the change we envisioned has evaporated and we are right back where we started

Yet it must be said that envisioned, or fantasized change is utilized by us so frequently due to the simplicity of its nature. It simply entails switching on a fantasy in our head, losing our cares momentarily, and living an altogether different existence. The existence of our pure desires. The crushing reality of envisioned change however is that it is pure fantasy and it changes nothing at all.

Naturally, we want the envisioned change to be sustained; we don’t want it to evaporate when we open our eyes. How can we achieve sustained change we wonder? We’ve seen it we think! Photos of people on the Internet and videos of lucky individuals on infomercials and they are ACTUALLY sitting on those yachts in the Mediterranean. What are they saying? They are saying “I started my own home business, I am 31 years old, I have 4 homes in 3 countries, I’m retired, and you can do it too! In six months no less!”

You very nearly FLY to your keyboard and search for this dream come true. At last, you think, your envisioned reality will be sustained, and it will manifest itself through a home business.

You find one. You sign up! In your mind you pack your bags for the French Riviera or Acapulco. You close your eyes. You are ready! Yet wait, something is terribly wrong. When you open your eyes you are once again right where you were. There is no check in the mail. There are no orders coming in. There is no mansion or fast car. Has your home business been a deception?

Well to a degree, yes it has. You “looked” at other successful home business entrepreneurs and your mind turned on that familiar fantasy. You envisioned a home business and equated it with instant wealth because all you had to do was close your eyes and “wish it so”. Therein lies the fatal flaw of envisioned change. It is fantasy, pure and simple.

Enacted change on the other hand is an altogether different story, yet it involves something we tend to loathe….EFFORT. Indeed, some of those “home business people” sitting on yachts are scam artists hoping to pick your pocket, yet others ARE legitimate. They actually are living out their dreams. How? NOT by wishing it so, but by ACTING. The fleeting existence of fantasy was not enough for them. They wanted to sustain and live their fantasy. They began to enact change with their eyes wide open.

They learned exactly what it would take to build a home business through reading, interacting, investing prudently, and strategizing and then they MOVED on it. As they began to see that their actions produced results, they ceased to loathe effort and began to embrace it!

They became energized and enthusiastic and found each day they became more productive and in turn garnered more results. A formerly closed door began to swing open and through diligence and effort, the fantasy that was formerly a mere fleeting daydream began to become their daily reality.

Through enacted change using home business as a vehicle and by getting up off of the sofa and opening their eyes and doing something they sustained the fantasy and turned it into their real world. ACT; in order to create change in your life and so can you!

Home Business: Does One Need An External Solution, Or An Internal Resolution? The Answer Is Clear.

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

A home business on the Internet: The lure of it entices us as we surf the net. Vivid images begin to dance in our heads; swimming pools, exotic cars, romantic vacations, and money…..lots of money to spare.

We envision ample quality time with our family and plenty of money to send our children to the very best private universities. We picture a comfortable retirement in some well-heeled sunny enclave.

Beneath those dancing visions often lurks some harsh reality that presently darkens our day to day existence or even overwhelms our lives and that serves as the impetus that spurs us to look for a home business and a “way out”.

For each of us, the desire or need for change is unique. Perhaps we are fed up with a job, which only allows us the bare necessities of life. Some of us have over-charged on our credit cards. We may be running a month or two behind on our rent or mortgage. We may very nearly be crying out for help. This is not a pleasant environment to be entrenched within.

Nearly each and every one of us can relate to this scenario as at one time or another we have been there or have experienced something very similar and indeed we may find ourselves in such a spot this very day.

It is absolutely imperative that you bear in mind an essential element as you consider a home business as an escape hatch. A home business is an INANIMATE OBJECT. A home business is a singular THING, it is a name and an inanimate object that is simply a name WILL NOT in and of itself serve as a solution for your problems or realize your dreams.

The solution to your problems and the answer to your dreams lie within yourself. I think most of us have known that all along. We simply don’t want to look there. It is not a simple task to summon forth our strength and make things happen. It is so much easier to look to be rescued by an external source.

Registering for a home business alone will not change your life. Internal resolve will. One may apply the famous old adage “One can achieve whatever one desires if one only puts ones mind to it.” Tempered with a dose of reality, this adage can help to put the world at our feet. No, we can’t do anything and everything. Certainly, we can’t flap our wings and fly. Unfortunately, many people look at a home business with such unrealistic imagery and set themselves up for disappointment.

Yet, if you determine internally today, this very moment, in fact, that you are going to make a commitment to yourself to do what it takes to gain the level of success that you pre-determine for yourself, then you have set the wheels in motion.

At that point the home business that you have registered for no longer remains an inanimate object. Indeed, it has become a tool. It will be a tool that you will design and engineer through your own inner drive and determination.

Your home business will be a tool of your will that will pull you out of a dim environment and into the colorful vibrant light of abundance.

Congratulations on having realized that internal resolve is the answer and a home business can be your tool!

Starting Your First Home Business

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

Over the last few years I have helped thousands of people start
their own home based businesses. Many of these folks have become
quite successful and others, for various reasons, have failed to
achieve success.

People starting out in their first home based business adventure
almost always suffer information overload in the early stages of
trying to get their business up and running. I often refer to
this as the “taking a drink from a fire hose syndrome”.

For the first time home business entrepreneur there will be a
great deal of “newness” to virtually all aspects of getting their
business started. When you combine all of this “newness” along
with the natural sense of excitement and eagerness, it is easy
to understand how people can easily fall prey to the feeling
of being overwhelmed and lost.

To a degree, the confusion/frustration/overload situation
frequently encountered in the initial startup phase is often
similar to the old saying about trying to run before learning to
walk.

The steepness (is that a word?) of the learning curve depends
not only upon the particular type of business that is being
undertaken, but also upon the background and skills of the
person starting the business. In any event, when first
starting out, people will usually try to move forward too
quickly.

I caution people to come to grips with reality and to be
realistic in their expectations. Far too many folks read
advertisements that are hype and imply quick money, and lots of
it, from a home-based business start-up. It will certainly take
at least a year, and in some cases two to three years, before
you should expect to begin to truly make a significant profit
from your business.

It takes a lot of time to successfully market and promote a new
business. Starting out a new business with the expectation of
earning a full time income from a part time effort is not very
realistic and is likely to lead to disappointment.

If you are planning on starting a home-based business with the
intention of spending a great deal of time with young children
or caring for a sick or elderly family member, a full-time home
business (and income) may not be a realistic objective from a
time availability standpoint. Try to reconcile your income
expectations with the amount of time that you have available to
devote to starting your home business.

You can expect to experience periods of doubt in the early stages
of developing your business…did I pick a viable business
opportunity?…am I doing the right things to develop my
business?…when will I start making a profit?, and so on.

A person working at a home based business may also experience
occasional periods of feeling isolated…a feeling which
is probably brought on by the lack of interaction of a work
force or office environment.

Whatever type of home based business that you choose to start,
you can rest assured that there will be some bumps in the road
leading to your success. You should expect to experience the
“two steps forward and one step backward” thing and try to avoid
the ever-looming temptation to become overly discouraged when you
take one of those backward steps. It is very easy to lose sight
of the obvious fact that as long as you have more steps forward
than backward you will eventually get ahead!

What Will I Be Doing Now That I Have a Home Business?

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

Many new Affiliates join a home business program not really having any idea what it is they will be doing now that they have been made owners of their own home business.

It can be summed up in one word: PROMOTION—

This one word must be broken down into a specific outline for one to have a more clear understanding of their new business. Three key elements are involved here. The first is drive, the second is knowledge and the third is action. To be successful with a new home business, one must put all three elements into play in the form of promotion.

Therefore, lets discuss each element and the way in which it applies to promotion, which in turn results in home business success.

DRIVE: To build a business at home from scratch one must have a burning desire to create self sufficiency and even wealth as an entrepreneur. Drive is the internal mechanism from whence our dreams spring forth. Drive, which in essence is the motivational force springing forth from our dreams is what will propel us forward day in and day out as we go about the required promotional activities to build our business, such as responding to emails, creating and submitting advertisements, adding relevant content to our websites that will increase traffic and sales, writing articles and so on. Drive, when combined with definition and purpose is a powerful force as it relates to home business promotion. Without definition and purpose, drive is impotent and your business will not succeed. Simply signing up for a business out of general desire or drive, yet lacking design is pointless.

KNOWLEDGE- Personal responsibility and laying claim to your own sense of responsibility is key here as it relates to home business success and garnering home business knowledge. You must learn, in detail, every relevant aspect that applies to your business. Signing up for a program and then taking no action to learn the full details involved in that program will result in failure. Likely, full training is available to you both through reading and even via an individual mentor. Take advantage of both to the fullest. Read everything in your training. If you stop at the basics, then your results will be basic to non-existent. Ask questions of your mentor. He or she will be glad to help you individually. Participate in forums. Go beyond that-research everything you come across in detail as it relates to your business. With knowledge, you will be armed to promote your business.

Lastly, we come to ACTION. Brimming with desire and armed with knowledge you will begin to take the specific steps required to successfully build your business. Having taken the time to learn your promotional methods you will begin to apply them with daily action. Think things through first, and choreograph your activities with an organized plan. Don’t expect perfection. Hone, develop and utilize the methods of promotional action that work, discard those that don’t work and pass along what you have learned to those that follow after you.

You have the desire, now learn, then act, and most importantly have fun! Success will likely follow.

A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing - Identifying Scams That Look Like Legitimate Businesses

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

As I`ve mentioned in previous articles, there are a whole lot of various business opportunities for you, as a marketer, to get involved with. Before you do though, you need to be aware of the fact that there are also thousands of scams out there, posing as legitimate businesses. While a lot of these types of programs are totally on the up-and-up, some unscrupulous people will almost re-create the different types of program and scam you for all you`ve got.

No matter which road you decide to take in your pursuit of becoming an online marketer, always do your due dilligence and check up on whatever program you are thinking of becoming part of.

Here`s a list of some legitimate type programs that can actually be easily re-created by fraudsters:

- Web Cramming -

Promise: You get a free custom-designed website for a 30-day trial period, with no obligation to continue.

Fact: Sometimes, people have been charged on their telephone bills or received a separate invoice, even if they never agreed to continue using the service after the trial period.

Be Aware: Check your phone bills and challenge any charges you don’t recognize.

- Internet Access Services -

Promise: “You`ll get Free money, all you have to do is cash this check”

Fact: You are at risk of being “trapped” into long-term contracts for Internet access or another web service. There`s usually huge penalty fees if you cancel, or terminate the service before the “agreed” period is up.

Be Aware: If you receive a check, read both sides and look inside the envelope for any hidden conditions that you’re “agreeing” to if you cash the check. Also read your phone bill carefully for any unexpected or unauthorized charges that may be there.

- Business Opportunities -

Promise: “You can kiss your 9-5 job goodbye, be your own boss and rake in the cash.”

Fact: There`s a lot of hype out there. Unfortunately, people believe all the wild promises about potential earnings, and end up investing big bucks into a program/opportunity that turns out to be a total flop.

Be Aware: Always look for evidence to back up the earnings claims. Talk to others who`ve started businesses through the same company. Get all the promises, claims and conditions in writing.

- Investments -

Promise: Just make one investment in a day trading system or service and you’ll get huge returns.

Fact: Any promised profits come with a risk. The bigger the profits, the bigger the risks.

Be Aware: Talk to other people who invested through the program to find out what level of risk you’re assuming. Do a check on the promoter through state and federal securities and commodities regulators.

- Internet Auctions -

Promise: You can shop for a huge selection of products at great deals, from the comfort of your own home.

Fact: A lot of people have received an item that is less valuable than promised, or at the very worst, nothing at all. Of course this is AFTER they`ve parted with their cash.

Be Aware: When you`re bidding through an Internet auction, especially if it`s for a large quantity, or a valuable item, check out the seller first. Also, insist on paying with a credit card or using an escrow service. An “escrow service” will act as a “paid middle-man”. They will hold your cash until you get the merchandise, then they will pay the vendor, for a fee.

As you can see, there are lots of ways to get scammed, so always make sure you ask a lot of questions, do background checks and scrutinize ALL contracts and papers before you sign anything at all.

Remember, it may be easy just to sign up and wait for good things to happen, but it`s just as easy, if not easier, to lose your shirt.

look like. You will want to take into consideration that
your idea of a great website may differ drastically from
what a website designed to make sales should be like.

professional home business website. Implementing these into
your website will make it much more effective in getting
visitors to do what you want them to do…. Give You Their

Here are 5 traits of great home business website (in no
particular order):

1) Build A Professional Looking Site – There are millions of
websites on the Internet and many of them are very well
designed. Make sure your website is as professional in
appearance as your competition. You will be judged on the
appearance of your site so make sure you don’t lose visitors
because of a bad design.

2) Provide Visitors With All the Info They Need – If a
visitor to your website has to put any effort into finding
the information they need, you will lose them fast.
Everything should be easily available to them with clear
directions on how to get it. Make all important information
no more than one click away.

3) Have A Newsletter Sign-Up – Having a form for people to
opt-in to a newsletter is a great way to build a list of
customers. It’s also a great way to build trust and a strong

they just might tell all their friends about you.

4) Make It Sell – You are building a work at home business
website so you can make money. In order to do that you must
get your visitors to make purchases. Your site should have a
direct call to action with your best products and/or
services listed in highly visible places.

5) Allow feedback – It’s important to have a way for your
visitors to offer feedback to you. They should also have an
easy way to ask questions and make comments. People will
like this because they get to give their input about what
they would like to see done. You will benefit by being able
to know what your customers want or need.

Ok, now you should be able to get a great start on that
business website. Include all five of the things above then
build some great information around them. You will have a
wonderful website that should bring back visitors time and
time again.

How Long Before Business Takes Off?

Posted in Home Business at 12:00 pm by Work at Home Team

Many people operating internet-based businesses don’t have a realistic expectations of how long it takes to get started. This is because of all the hype about how easy it is to make a fortune online. You can make money selling goods and services online. However, there is USUALLY a learning curve. From discussions with others earning a nice income online, it seems to take 8 months to a year before things take off. You can shorten this learning period though.

During this learning period, the struggling business is:

1. Building name recognition.

2. Finding products or services that really sell.

3. Developing a business system.

4. Making lots of mistakes.

1. Building name recognition and an online presence is very necessary in many circles. People like buying from someone they know. Your potential customers want to know that you are going to be around tomorrow. If you have been in business for a while, then customers feel that you must be doing something right. Since you are successful they want to associate with and learn from you.

2. There are tons of products and services that you can offer from your website. New affiliate programs spring up every day. The problem is knowing which product or service is really in demand. Most of us have joined affiliate programs that proved disappointing. The key here is to really look at the product. Ask yourself if is something really needed. Also make sure that
the commission paid is high enough to allow you to really earn some money. I think 40 to 50 percent isneeded for some products. If the product offers a residual income, a lower commission will still allow you a decent profit stream over time.

3. Developing a business system takes time. You should have a business plan before you do anything else. Have a plan for how and where you will advertise. Know how much webhosting, site promotion, and outside support will cost. Have a complete system thought through to include such things as using autoresponders, following up, and delivering the product. Not having completely thought things through is what causes all of the mistakes.

4. Finally, you make lots of mistakes during this learning period. Fortunately, you can learn from others mistakes and avoid repeating some of them. Read all of the ezine articles you can get your hand on. But also question everything you read in these articles. Read good books on the topic. Let others who have already set up a working system show you how it’s done. This is how you accelerate the process and avoid making so many mistakes.

Building your online business begins with knowing what to expect so that you are prepared. Study and do enough of the right things and your business will take off. It doesn’t usually happen overnight but with perseverance it does happen.
